The Levy Family: San Juan Capistrano Photographer

I have the cutest family shoot to share with you today, with believe it or not, yellow mustard flowers! If you’ve been to Southern California in the spring, these flowers sprout up everywhere – but it’s December – so this is very unusual. I was suprised to find an entire feild these flowers when I pulled up for the shoot, and took full advantage of the bright yellow background.

You’ll probably recongnize these smiling faces, from Victoria and Yaron’s Villa del Sol wedding earlier this year, and their adorable San Juan Capistrano engagement shoot. This time they wanted to include the whole family, which now consists of puppy Oscar, who they adopted earlier this year, and Rino the stuffed unicorn.:)I had such a great time with these three as usual, and can’t wait to see how this family grows!

Taylor & Drew: Newport Beach LDS Temple Wedding

I can’t say enough good things about Taylor and Drew; they are such a down to earth, and fun couple. After laughing my butt off at their engagement shoot, I couldn’t wait to get them back in front of my camera!

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of photographing Taylor’s sisters wedding, so it was nice to see all those familiar faces again on Taylor and Drew wedding day. In my opinion, Taylor’s parents deserve some MAJOR props for pulling off two weddings within 4 months of each other! This also happened to be my last official wedding of the year, and I couldn’t think of a better way to end 2011.

Taylor and Drew were sealed at the Newport Beach LDS Temple right before Thanksgiving, and I’m excited to share with you some of my favorite photos from their day!

Congrats again you two! SO excited for you, and can’t wait to see how your new life together will grow! xoxo

Kristi & Andy: Queen Mary Wedding

Earlier this year I had the pleasure of second shooting with my awesome friend Nathan Nowack for Kristi and Andy’s Queen Mary wedding!! I was SUPER excited to finally shoot with Nathan, and also to visit the Queen Mary for the first time. I love ghost stories and was hoping I’d have my first encounter… but alas I saw nothing. Regardless I had a great time photographing Kristi and Andy, and exploring the ship with them.:)

Special thanks for Nathan for brining me along, and I’ll start the post with one of my favorite “first looks” to date!

The Other Side of The Lens

This is the first year I’m sending out holiday cards, and what is a card without a picture, right? I quickly looked through my photos to discover I have no, and I do mean NO, good photos of John and I together from this year – especially since our engagement.

So it was settled, we needed some updated pictures for our cards, and who better to take them, then our good friend Brandi? It was perfect, we would do a quick shoot and we’d be set… Until I realized John and I have NEVER been professionally photographed together (insert scary music)! Although I’m no stranger to being on the other side of the camera, as a couple it’s a whole different story.

I realized this is exactly what my couples must feel like, and to be honest, it’s intimidating. Luckily we survived, and I have a whole new perspective on couples photos, whether it’s an engagement shoot or your actual wedding day. Here are a just a few of my take a ways…

PAMPER YOURSELF: If you want to look your best, then it’s essential that you feel your best. This can mean many things, but for me it meant a new hair cut, and mini shopping spree. So splurge a little and treat yourself to something special!

RELAX & HAVE FUN: The best photographs show real emotion, so it’s essential that your actually expressing those emotions. Laugh, joke, be silly and don’t worry about what anyone else is thinking.

TRUST: Since Brandi is a close friend it was easy for John and I to be ourselves, but this isn’t always the case. So it’s SUPER important that you get to know your photographer, their shooting style, and have faith that they will do everything to get the best possible results.

Special thanks to Brandi for the awesome shoot, we love you!!
