PB&J + The Surprise of My life!

Since returning from my travels, you’ve seen some New York City pictures, and you might have even watched my silly road trip video, but I’ve been holding out on some pretty big news… but let’s start at the beginning.

Oddly enough, I met the man of my dreams at a plaque making company back in college. John was a long time employee and I was the new girl, trying to transition from waiting tables to a daily office job. I wish I could say it was love at first sight, but I didn’t know he existed. His twin brother worked in the office next to mine and I thought they were the same person, for weeks!! No joke.:)

It wasn’t until our Holiday party that I actually had the chance to really talk to John, and he quickly moved from co-worker to crush, then to boyfriend in a matter of weeks. Fast forward 4.5 years later, and we have been together ever since! It has been the best years of my life, and throughout that time he has been my rock, and best friend, helping me through some pretty horrible and also beautiful times.

A few weeks ago everything changed. After picking me up from the airport at 11pm, driving home and making me a PB&J sandwich, he asked if I’d watch the CrossFit Irvine monthly highlight reel he made (John is a coach at CFI), and give him feedback in what to change. NOTE: the CF highlight video is basically a collection of video clips of people working out set to music.

So as I’m watching this video on the couch, making detailed notes in my head, and eating my sandwich, I yell to John in the next room “I better be in this video!” He yells back “Oh, you are!”

Little did I know, about two minutes into the video and a clip of me finally comes up, then another, and another… I’m thinking, that’s too many clips of myself, and then words start to come across the screen and the music changes. The video transitions into a slideshow of pictures from our relationship, with funny little memories and inside jokes. Picture this: I’m on the couch, in my pajamas, at 12am holding a PB&J, and crying my eyes out! I couldn’t even look at John sitting behind me, until the slideshow ended and I turned to find him on one knee… “Will you marry me?”

So if you haven’t figured it out by now, I’M ENGAGED!!! I’m super excited to finally share the news, start planning our big day, and most importantly marry the man I want to spend the rest of my life with!

P.S. I had my eye on this non-traditional wedding ring, and it’s even more beautiful in person! I’m not a big jewelry person, so I wanted something understated and easy to wear… it’s perfect!

The Other Side of The Lens | Kaysha Weiner Photographer - [...] This is the first year I’m sending out holiday cards, and what is a card without a picture, right? I quickly looked through my photos to discover I have no, and I do mean NO, good photos of John and I together from this year – especially since our engagement. [...]
